Properties and Uses

It has mucolytic and anti-inflammatory action on bronchioles and mucosal lining of sinuses hence used in Cough, asthma, chronic sinusitis and other respiratory disorders. Unripe fruit has laxative action so used in constipation whereas ripe and dried fruits have astringent nature hence used in diarrhoea, dysentery, haemoptysis and conditions causing internal bleeding. It relieves intestinal gas, act as carminative and has anti-emetic properties. It has nourishing properties therefore used in general debility.
