Properties and Uses

Due to cooling and astringent nature it has blood clotting, styptic and healing properties hence commonly used in fresh and chronic wounds, burns, in disorders causing burning sensation, epistaxis (bleeding from nose), diarrhoea, dysentery. It has anti-emetic and diuretic properties therefore used to relieve vomiting, burning micturition. It is popularly used in pregnancy for stable intrauterine growth of the fetus. It has calming effect on brain and hence used in anxiety, epilepsy.
