Properties and Uses

Due to astringent nature it has blood clotting and styptic properties therefore commonly used in bleeding piles, haemoptysis, bloody discharge through vagina (Rakta-pradar ), menorrhagia, disorders causing internal bleeding and dysentery. Its oil has analgesic properties and used for external application in arthritis. It has digestive, anti-emetic actions so used in indigestion, vomiting. Due to aromatic contents its external application is used in conditions causing excessive sweating and chronic foul smelling wounds.
