Properties and Uses

It has digestive properties and relieves flatulence. It restores the stool colour due to its action on Pitta. It has styptic action on intestine therefore used in diarrhoea, dysentery, digestive disorders and conditions with discoloration of stool. It has cough expectorant action and relieves foul smell of cough hence used in chronic cough and sinusitis. It has nourishing effect on nervous system and heart. Its external application is used in chronic ulcers, diabetic wound. Its warm smearing is used in arthritis. It is used in fevers and general debility.
