Properties and Uses

External application with bark is used in inflammations and burns. Flowers, Mocharas (Gum of Shalmali) has styptic action on intestine and has coagulative properties hence used in diarrhoea, dysentery, bleeding piles and vaginal discharge. Flowers are used in haemoptysis, epistaxis. Unripe fruits have anti-tussive and diuretic action. Thorns are used popularly for the treatment of acnies. Mocharas is used in tooth powders. It is used in wounds and ulcers for external application.
