Seasonal Diet & Conduct (Rutucharya) in Sharad (शरद) Rutu / Autumn

In Sharad (शरद) Rutu or autumn, sudden exposure to sunlight after cold season aggravates Pitta. Hence diseases with Pitta dominance are common occurence in this season.

Diet Regimen

Dietary ingredients which are sweet and bitter it taste, are easy to digest and with cold character should preferably be consumed in diet. It will control aggravated Pitta.

Take easily digestible food like rice, green gram, aamla, honey and sugar.

Avoid heavy foods i.e. with heavy character.

Diet and Conduct during Sharad or Autumn

Vegetables

Asparagus, Dill, Cucumber, Zucchini, Cabbage, Green beans, Coriander , Pumpkin, Bottle gourd, Coriander, Cucumber, Brinjal, Okra, Ridge gourd, Sweet potato.

Fruits

Jamun, Pomegranate, Aamla, Dates, Coconut, Grapes, Custard apple, Kokam.

Grains / Pulses

Wheat, Barley and Rice, Kidney beans, Fava beans, Moth beans.

Spices

Fennel seeds, Cardamom, Cumin seeds, Coriander seeds.

Others

Milk, Paneer (Cottage cheese), Ghee medicated with bitter substances.

Behaviour

External application of substances with cooling character like sandal. Bathe with warm water, avoid exposure to sun. Sleeping during the day time is forbidden. Blood donation is advisable.
