Shree Dhootapapeshwar Limited was established in 1872 by Vaidyaraj Krushnashastri Puranik a physician whose singular aim was the proper manufacture of Ayurvedic medicines. Over 150 years later, the company remains in the hands of the same family, guided by the same purpose. The name has grown, science has advanced, but the founding principle, serving Ayurved, has not been revised.
This is what the Puranik family calls Saiddhantik Ayurved, the practice of Ayurved exactly as its principles demand, with no approximation in measure, discipline, or balance. Not a tagline, but the discipline that has guided every medicine SDL has made for over 150 years
The company today is led by Shri Ranjit Anand Puranik, the seventh member of the Puranik family to carry the enterprise forward. Run entirely by professionals and domain experts, SDL has more Ayurvedic physicians on its board than any comparable company in the field. Every medicine it makes is shaped by that authority.

The mission at SDL has always been simply stated: Serving Ayurved. What that means in practice is less simple. It means that every medicine leaving our facilities must deliver genuine therapeutic benefit, support the body as a whole, and remain faithful to the classical texts it is drawn from.
Ayurved has faced questions of relevance in every era. Our response has never been to defend science rhetorically, it has been to keep improving how we apply it. Better understanding, better processes, better consistency. The medicine either works or it does not. We are focused entirely on ensuring it does.
Our standards are always at a higher threshold than what the law of the land prescribes. That is our warranty to the Ayurved fraternity.

Educational Awareness for General Public: Through our Trust and educational initiatives, we organize awareness and lecture series on adolescent health, menstrual wellness, motherhood, Ayurvedic lifestyle, and nutrition. These programmes empower young girls, women, and communities with practical knowledge for healthier living.
Supporting the Next Generation of Ayurved Practitioners: Through Shree Dhootapapeshwar Vidyalaya Samiti, we proudly support residential workshops organized by various Ayurved associations to strengthen the academic knowledge, clinical skills, and practical understanding of BAMS students and young Ayurved practitioners. As a mark of encouragement and recognition, we also felicitate BAMS Final Year College Toppers from the Mumbai region for their outstanding academic achievements, inspiring excellence and motivating future Ayurved professionals.
Edutainment through National-Level Quiz Competition: Shree Dhootapapeshwar Ltd. organizes "Jyotishmati", the National-Level Intercollegiate Ayurved Quiz Competition, providing an engaging platform for academic interaction, healthy competition, and knowledge exchange among students from Ayurved colleges across India.
Health Check-up Camps: We conduct health check-up camps to facilitate early diagnosis, preventive healthcare, and access to quality Ayurvedic guidance, benefiting communities across different age groups.
Research & Development: We actively support research into and the development of Ayurvedic medicine and allied sciences, fostering innovation while preserving the timeless Saiddhantik Ayurved.
Publication & Knowledge Dissemination: Through the Shree Dhootapapeshwar Vidyalaya Samiti, we publish and distribute educational literature, books, and other resources to promote awareness and deepening the understanding the knowledge of Ayurved among Ayurved students and practitioners on a no profit no loss basis.
